How we build exam tasks
No credentials to wave around. Here is the process instead.
We do not list founder credentials unless they can be verified publicly. What you can check is how tasks and feedback are made. The rules below come from our content workflow and our feedback instructions.
A B1 writing task from our catalog
Level B1 · about 80 words

What every new reading text must pass
New reading texts are AI-drafted, then rejected unless they pass these checks:
- A real text type, such as a forum post, email or notice, with a clear author, audience and purpose.
- A length that fits the level: 80–120 words at B1, 120–180 at B2.
- Four questions with four options each, and wrong options taken from the same situation.
- Every explanation quotes the text, and a script checks that each quotation is exact.
- A separate review pass scores level fit, grammar, questions and text type at 8/10 or higher and naturalness at 9/10 or higher. After three rejected drafts, nothing is published.
What writing feedback checks
- Grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary and style, with up to three issues each.
- Each issue quotes your exact words, explains the problem in plain language and gives the German correction.
- Scored against your target level. Completing the task and getting your message across come first.
- Feedback is instructed not to invent errors: valid alternatives such as „gern“ and „gerne“ are not marked, and uncertain issues are left out.
